Welcome to the memorial page for

Elaine Rebecca Timariu

November 9, 1953 ~ August 6, 2017 (age 63)

The Piano Brothers

It is with great sadness that the family of Elaine Rebecca Timariu mourns her passing on August 6, 2017, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Youngstown, OH, on the Feast Day of the Transfiguration of our Lord.  She was surrounded by her loving family.

Elaine was born in Youngstown, OH, on November 9, 1953. She is preceded in death by her parents Helen and Emil Timariu, and her brothers Emil and John. She will be sadly missed by her sister Emily (Richard) Shehadi, nieces Angela and Sister Christine, and nephews Eric and Kyle. She will also be missed by her aunts and uncles Nicholas and Aurelia Dragosin of Baltimore, MD, and Victor and Ann (Timariu) Pacura of New Middletown, OH.  She was also be missed by many cousins and her furry friends Buster and Belvy.

She was a 1972 graduate of McDonald High School, where she was a member of the marching band and orchestra; also active in the McDonald Girl Scouts. She attended Holy Trinity Romanian Orthodox Church in Youngstown for many years, where she served a term as Ladies Auxiliary President. More recently, she attended St. Mark's Orthodox Church with her family. She dearly loved going to the Orthodox Monastery of the Transfiguration in Ellwood City, PA.

She worked for the US Government in Washington DC, before returning home to Ohio to work in the mortgage industry for many years. She enjoyed spending her free time with her family and traveling, including taking cruises and trips to Hollywood. Elaine especially was a fan of soap operas including the long running Days of our Lives, once meeting the stars Julie and Doug. She also enjoyed “family lunches” every Sunday, loved to guess answers on “Family Feud” and always made us laugh. Elaine was caring and giving in life, and is still giving by being an organ donor through Lifebanc. In recent years, Elaine was a loving care-giver to many elderly people in their homes.

Viewing will be at Blackstone Funeral Home, 672 Churchill Rd, Girard, OH, on Thursday evening from 5pm to 8pm, with the memorial service at 7pm.
