Alfred L. Falgiani, 95, of Boardman, formerly of Girard, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2022 peacefully in his sleep at home.
He was born July 1, 1927 in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of the late Dominic and Ida Falgiani. He graduated from Rayen High School and then served his country in the Army. He married Theresa Bevilacqua on August 20, 1949, with whom he had four children.
Alfred was a machinist at Youngstown Foundry for many years, and later taught machine shop at Choffin Career Center in Youngstown.
Alfred had a passion for cars, especially fast cars. His prized possession was a 1969 Ford Shelby GT 500. He knew the cars inside and out, no matter what make or model. He totally rebuilt a transmission for his brother back in the early 60's, with parts all over the garage and basement! He could talk for hours and hours about cars, anytime and anywhere, and anyplace...and it didn't matter what the occasion was. One of his favorite pastimes would be arguing about cars!
He was a very skilled craftsman. He was constantly building things. He built his own home in 1967; it took 2 years, finishing in 1969...doing all of the work except plumbing. He crafted all the oak in the house, the kitchen cabinets, the wood floors, and the exquisite steps. He was indeed the perfectionist at everything he did. There was nothing he could not tackle and conquer.
He is survived by his children, Ida Falgiani, Diane and husband Mickey Whitacre, and Alfred Falgiani, Jr. and daughter in law Jill Falgiani. He also leaves his grandchildren Michelle and her husband James Castellano, Jason Whitacre and his wife Lisa, Michael Neuman, and Marcie Horbus; great grandchildren Haley and Ryan Castellano, Logan, Luke and Spencer Whitacre, and Miles and Bailey Horbus. He is also survived by his brother Larry Falgiani of Oklahoma.
Alfred was preceded in death by his son Dominic Falgiani, his parents, and his brothers, Albert Falgiani, John Falgiani, Dominic Falgiani Jr. and Joseph Falgiani.
Private services were held for the family.
