Alice Fungi

Alice Fungi, 93, of Girard, passed away on Friday, August 7, 2026 in the comfort of her home.

Alice was born on October 1, 1932 in Boston, Massachusetts the daughter of the late Leslie and Charlotte Coolidge.

Alice was a proud high school graduate of Jamaica Plain High School. She devoted much of her life to creating a warm, loving home as a homemaker, where her nurturing spirit provided a bedrock for her family.

Alice was an active and longtime member of St. Rose Church in Girard. Her commitment to her parish was evident through her involvement in teaching CCD, serving as a Eucharistic Minister, and participating in outreach ministry. Alice was also a familiar face at the polling station during elections, working diligently at the polls for voting at Tod Woods Schools, underscoring her dedication to civic duty.

In her leisure time, Alice found joy in community gatherings and social games, especially bingo—a pastime she deeply enjoyed and shared with friends and loved ones.

Alice is survived by her loving family: her sons, William (Marcia) Fungi of California, David Fungi, and Michael Fungi both of Girard; her daughters, Carol Prystash of Girard, Dorothy Pollock of Niles, Teresa Kuhn of Girard, and Alice (Jim) Irwin of Girard; along with 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; a special niece, Leslie Zaske; and her best friend, her dog Shadow.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank Fungi; her son, Frankie Fungi; her granddaughter, Dorothy Faith Fungi; and her siblings: sisters Ruth, Barbara, Margie, and Dorothy, as well as her brother, Richard.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard on Thursday, August 13th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Mass will be held in her honor at St. Rose Catholic Church on Friday August 14th at 11:00 AM.

Alice will be laid to rest at Girard City Cemetery next to her husband.
