Anna (Blasick) Harasym

February 24, 1926 — June 5, 2017

NILES-Private services were held for Anna Marie Harasym, 91 , who passed away Monday , June 5, 2017 at Windsor House at Champion.

Ann was born February 24, 1926 in Pennsylvania, a daughter of Gertrude  and  John  Blasick.   She moved to the Youngstown area as a young child. Once married, Ann spent most of her time in Liberty.

She enjoyed being a homemaker, who  loved  to  cook  and  bake.  Ann was an avid reader and adored animals, with her favorite being her poodle, Andrea.  Not only did she and her husband take in stray cats, but they also provided a temporary residence to religious leaders and family members.

Ann worked on many church projects including rummage sales and church dinners.  She was involved in helping to raise funds for St. Jude Children’s Hospital.  She was instrumental in raising her two girls, Jacquelyn (Harasym) and Linda  ( Mrs. Robert Byers).   If anyone needed help, Ann was always available.

Once her children began their own careers, Ann decided to get a job and worked as an attendant at Blue Ribbon Laundromat, Belmont Ave., until she retired.  She was extremely proud of her grandson, RC (Byers) and spent many summers vacationing with him at Disney World.

Her husband, Alexander, whom she married November 4, 1945, died in 2005.  Ann would never hesitate to help Alex start his diesel truck in January’s snow storms.  She was a take charge lady who enjoyed driving convertibles.

Ann leaves behind her two daughters, her son-in-law ,  Robert Byers,  her grandson and his wife, Casey.  She will also miss her niece, Patrice Deley and her husband, Ronald, and their girls, Rachel and Karen (Mrs. David Raghanti) and little Chloe (Raghanti).

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her two brothers, Reverend John Blasick and Reverend George Blasick, plus her sister and brother-in-law, Kay and Edward Tkach.

The family would like to thank the staffs of Gracewoods Senior Living in Niles and Windsor House at Champion for her excellent care.
