Charles Clayton Clark passed away on Friday, September 5th, in Ithaca, NY.
He was born on May 7, 1933 to Luella Mae (Britton) Clark and George Theodore Clark.
Charles grew up in Andover Township, Ashtabula County, Ohio and later resided in Girard, Ohio. Charles also lived in North Palm Beach, Florida until 2002 when he moved to Ithaca, NY to be closer to family.
In 1952, Charles joined the United States Navy. After serving our country, he suffered a shipboard injury and was honorably discharged.
Charles married Beatrice R. Clark in 1954, affectionately known as Bea, who became his beloved wife of 70 years.
Charles started as a truck driver at the Hearn Paper Company in Youngstown, Ohio and then worked in warehouse operations until he retired after more than 30 years.
Brother Charles was a Master Mason in the Freemasons and he served in several Masonic offices. He was a member of the William Farr Lodge #672 in Girard, Ohio, Copper Penny #778 in Vienna, Ohio, Nippising #420 in North Bay, Ontario, Canada and Caroline #681 in Slaterville Springs, New York.
For many years, Charles could be seen proudly riding his gold scooter wearing his red fez hat in parades with the Northeast Ohio Al Koran Shriners doing fundraising for Shriners Children's hospital.
Charles enjoyed working on car engines and lawn mowers. Over the years, he acquired an eclectic collection of mechanic tools and power equipment. He was also skilled at home repairs and he could tell you how to get a job done with less work and less money. Charles probably had every tool that his family and neighbors needed to borrow, and he eagerly responded with his helping hand.
Charles was very proud of his family and he enjoyed listening to his three grandsons, singing and playing guitar, keyboard and drums, especially when they played an old country favorite of his.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his daughter Debra (Andy) Antal of Ithaca, New York; a sister: Arabelle Shirley Dearth of Coumbus, OH; Grandchildren: Brent (Kelly Kistner) Antal of Long Beach CA, Jonathan (Natalie) Antal of Webster NY, Christopher (Tara Champion) Antal of Tacoma WA, and Brittany Clark of Dryden NY; Great grandchildren: Reid, Clark and Hertha, and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
