Christine D. (DeRubba) Nelson

July 15, 1922 — November 18, 2017

Christine D. Nelson, 95, of Vienna Twp, passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2017, at Liberty Health Care Center. Christine was born July 15, 1922 in Girard, Ohio, the daughter of John and Nancy (Callard) DeRubba. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish in Vienna.

Christine worked in the Office of Federal Machine and Welding in Warren and later at Vienna Valu-King as a clerk for 19 years before retiring in 1983. She loved being a homemaker and enjoyed baking, reading, walking and watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren and even found time to attend and enjoy all their activities especially their programs, parades and sporting events.

Christine leaves to cherish her memory her children, Ronald M. (Judith) Nelson of Canfield, John W.  Nelson of Vienna, and Nancy L. Paddock of Vienna, her brother John DeRubba of Colorado, her  grandchildren, Kristina, Ronald, Kara, Yvonne, Rachel, Ian, Sophie Rae, and Seth, and her great-grandchildren,  Brent, Karis, Brooklyn, Harper, Palmer, Leightyn, Rilee, Nash and a soon to arrive baby boy. Christine also leaves numerous nieces and nephews whom she became a part of their lives too and held them very dear to her heart.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Nelson, who died December 5, 1997, her sister Louise DeRubba, her brother, Anthony DeRubba and her granddaughter, Shaina Nelson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00  a.m. Tuesday, November 21, at St. Thomas the Apostle Parish. The family will receive relatives and friends from 5:00- 7:00 PM on Monday, November 20th at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard.
