It is with love and sadness that we announce the passing of David Chernisky of McDonald, OH, on July 29, 2026, at the age of 84.
Dave was born October 25, 1941, in Barnesboro, PA, son of the late Joseph Chernisky and Louise Chernisky.
He worked at Commercial Intertech in Youngstown, OH, until he retired after more than 25 years.
Dave will be remembered for the simple joys that brought him happiness and enriched the lives of those around him: sharing a beautiful life with his wife, making pancakes for his children and grandchildren, tending to his vegetable garden, fishing, cheering on the Steelers, and delighting friends and family with his almost magical ability of finding four-leaf clovers.
Above all, Dave was a man with a big heart and mischievous spirit. He will always be remembered for his beautiful blue eyes, his entertaining stories, and the love he showed to his family and friends.
Dave is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 43 years, Betty Chernisky, with whom he shared a deep and enduring love.
He is survived by sibling Carl (Donna) Chernisky, two beloved daughters Lisa (Ron) McIntosh and Tammy (Chad) Sellman, two cherished stepdaughters Debbie (Mike) Yanche and Denise (Don) Gray, stepson Jim (Virginia) Rice, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss him deeply.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents and by siblings Frank Chernisky, Joseph Chernisky, Delores Keith, Ronald Chernisky, John Chernisky, and George Chernisky.
Per his wishes, no service will be held and private arrangements are being handled by Blackstone Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research to honor his wife’s ongoing battle with the disease.
