David Smith, 79, of Girard, passed away on May 14, 2024 at Heritage Manor. He was born on January 9, 1945, in Warren, Ohio to Ralph Smith and Wanda (Brown) Smith.
In his educational journey, David was a proud 1962 graduate of Howland High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree from Youngstown State University.
David proudly served his country in the Air Force before transitioning to a role as a carrier and then a supervisor at the US Postal Office in Youngstown. He eventually retired in 2008 after years of hard work and dedication to his profession.
David was a faithful member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in McDonald where he served on parish council.
David was known for his passion for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Indians ,being an avid fan and always cheering them on during games.
David is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Kathleen (White) Smith of Girard, his sons Scott (Heidi) Smith, Jeffrey (Shannon) Smith, and Dr. Daniel (Shelley) Smith, as well as his grandchildren Matthew, Meghan, Ryan, Zachary, Justin, Allison, and Bradley. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A visitation will be held on May 29th starting at 10:00 AM followed by a Mass at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in McDonald to honor and celebrate the life of David Smith.
David will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery.
