David J. Strickland

David Jordan Strickland, 41, of Girard was reunited with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, May 9, 2026 following a brief battle with cancer. 

David was born November 14, 1984 and was raised by Graham and Beverly Strickland of Wheelersburg, Ohio. David was the youngest of five children. Only 8 months older than his cousin Megan, they often caused mischief whenever they were together.

David called Wheelersburg home for much of his life, but relocated to Northeast Ohio in2019 to be closer to family. He attended New Life Christian Fellowship Church where he found community and reconnected with his faith. 

David also had a close online community, who acted as his real-life guardian angels, watching over him from a distance.

 An avid animal lover, David will be missed by Bubbles the cat.

Despite contending with cancer, David retained his sense of humor and selflessness until the very end, more concerned for the wellbeing of those he loved than his own.

David is survived by many dear friends, particularly Jason and Sukhui Beer of Girard. He also leaves behind siblings Rayna (Bob) Browning of Cortland, Ohio; Jerri McCarty of Wheelersburg; Tracey Strickland of San Diego, California; and cousins Megan (Clinton) Myers of Cortland; Colleen (Ismael) Browning-Nyaosi of Toledo; and Mary Kate (Edward) Strimpfel of Fremont, Ohio as well as numerous Beall and Strickland aunts, uncles and cousins. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Craig Strickland.
