Derek Shingler

Derek Shingler, 33, of Girard, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2026 at St. Elizabeth Hospital.

Derek was born on April 24, 1993, in Warren, Ohio, a son to Allen Shingler and Kimberly (Norman) Shingler.

He was a 2011 graduate of Girard High School and had worked as a threader at Vallourec.

Throughout his life, Derek maintained a deep passion for several interests that brought him joy and camaraderie. He loved spending time on his Ford F150 Truck, finding great satisfaction and pride in this prized possession. Derek was also an enthusiastic fan of the band Insane Clown Posse (ICP) and enjoyed immersing himself in horror movies.

He is survived by his mother, Kimberly Norman, and father, Allen Shingler; his sister, Tracy (Sean) Ross; and his brother, Ryan Shingler. He also leaves behind his maternal grandmother, Julia Norman; aunt Stacy Cypher; uncles, Chad Shingler, John (Kelly) Norman, Robert (Nancy) Norman, and cousins John and Benjamin Norman; sister-in-law Miranda Kraynak; nephews, Avery, Rider, Maxwell and Sean. He also shared a close bond with his friends, Aaron Kortes and Scott Hank.

Derek was preceded in death by his uncles, Jeff and Gregory Shingler; maternal grandfather, Robert Norman, and his paternal grandparents, Gene and Emma Shingler, whose memories he cherished.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 1st from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard.

Derek will be laid to rest at Girard City Cemetery.
