Edna Ruth (Rees) Vogel

Edna Ruth Rees Vogel, 96, of Girard, passed away January 16, 2024 at her residence. She was born March 5, 1927 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, the daughter of Robert John and Elizabeth Julia (Wormer) Rees.
Edna graduated from Rayen High School in 1945 and from Youngstown College in 1951 with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. She moved to Girard in 1946 and worked as a substitute teacher for Girard City Schools for many years.
Edna was a member of the Phi Mu Women's Fraternity, Trinity Lutheran Church in Girard and a Lifetime member of the Girard Historical Society.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her three children; Frederick R. Vogel (Geraldine) of Villefranche-sur-saone, France, Suzanne V. Greene (Jim) of Cincinnati, OH, and John H. Vogel of Reynoldsburg, OH; grandchildren, Alexander J. Greene (Kelley) of Columbus, OH, Elizabeth (Lisa) Iacoletti (Paul) of San Antonio, TX, Evan M. Greene (Zack) of Columbus, Ohio, Josephine Vogel, Paul Vogel, and Jules Vogel of Paris, France; and three great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Edna is preceded in death by her husband, E. Frederick Vogel Jr.; sister, Margaret Rees Anderson; brother, Edward Rees; and daughter-in-law, Debra Vogel ( wife of son John Vogel).
Private services will be held on Monday, January 22nd, at Girard City Cemetery Chapel, where Edna will be laid to rest next to her husband.
