Edward C. McKenzie 89, passed away, Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026 surrounded by his loved ones at Gateway Springs Health Campus in Hamilton, Ohio.

He was born in Youngstown October 7, 1936, the son of Edward L. and Sally (Grasso) McKenzie, and lived in the Youngstown area the majority of his life.

He was a 1955 graduate of Rayen High School, where he played the position of center on the football team. He joined the Navy in service to his country in January of 1957 and was honorably discharged in December of 1960.

He was a loving son, husband, devoted father, grandfather, great­grandfather, brother and uncle, which were the joys of his life.

Edward was known for being a devoted and loving father with a great sense of humor and a love for traveling and French culture. He was an avid golfer, loved the beach and football. Most of all he loved cracking jokes with family and friends, preferably over a pasta dinner. He will be deeply missed.

He was a dedicated employee of The East Ohio Gas Co. for 34 yrs, starting as a meter reader, appliance service representative, and later became a supervisor. He was very well thought of and appreciated for his good work and customer relations which he thoroughly enjoyed, and he received the President's Award for quality service.

He served as Lt. Governor for the Ohio District Kiwanis International in 1996-97 & 1998-99, as well as being of service in various capacities with the organization.

He married the former Patricia Rauch in 1964, having 2 children together. She passed away in 1968. He married the former Helen Gray in 1976 with whom he had 1 child.

He is survived by his beloved family, daughter, Margaret Dubaj, with whom he made his home; son, Patrick (Amy) McKenzie of Cincinnati, and son Michael McKenzie, also of Cincinnati. 6 grandchildren; Kelly, Kenneth and Kevin Dubaj, Rachel, Aaron, Laura McKenzie and great grandchild Madeleine Dubaj; sister, Margaret (Peggy) Marsh of Liberty Township; beloved niece and nephew, Sally (Keith) Corso of Liberty Township, Arthur (Mary) Marsh of St. Marys Kansas and many beloved great nephews

& nieces, and sister-in-law, Margaret Kaputa.

He is preceded in death by his parents, an infant baby brother, and his brother Donald E. McKenzie, brother-in-law, Arthur L. Marsh, and infant niece, Colleen Marsh.

Family and friends will gather for visitation on Friday, April 10th, from 11a.m. - 12p.m at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard, with a service to follow at 12:00PM.

The family would like to recognize and thank the staff of Gateway Springs Health Campus for their unwavering devotion, care, love and friendship to Ed and his entire family. Another special thank you to the Hospice of Cincinnati for their compassion, care and kindness.
