Harry G. Zander, 92, passed away Wednesday evening, November 22, 2017 surrounded by those he loved. Harry was born February 7, 1925 in Girard, OH to Herman and Emma Zander. He attended Girard High school, and married the love of his life, Louise M. (Cesene) Zander, on November 29, 1945. They would have celebrated 72 years of marriage Wednesday. Harry worked in the inspection lab at Packard Electric for over 35 years. He was a member of Kay Lanes and Packard Electric bowling leagues, an avid golfer, and enjoyed playing softball. Harry loved Ohio sports and was always cheering on the Indians, Browns, Ohio State Buckeyes and Youngstown State Penguins. Most of all, he loved to spend time with his family.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Louise M. Zander; his loving daughter, Patricia (Terry) Brewer; two granddaughters, Kimberly (Ronald) Robertson, and Lisa (Scott) Hughes; four greatgrandchildren, Deanna (Nick) Hrelec, Connor and Caleb Hughes, and Owen Robertson; two siblings, Ruth Corsale and Herman (Francis) Zander Jr. of California; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Helen Schuster, Mildred Fredrick, Erma Schuster and a brother, Charles Zander.
Friends and family may call 6:30 to 8:30pm on Tuesday, November 28 at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard. Services will follow at 10am on Wednesday at Blackstone Funeral Home. A procession will follow to Todd Cemetery where he will be laid to eternal rest.
