Helen Jean (Walker) Frehs

Helen Jean Frehs, 91, of Girard, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2017, at Brookdale in Austintown. Helen Jean was born January 26, 1926 in Youngstown, Ohio, the daughter of Nathan and Zita (Miller) Walker. Helen Jean worked as a loan officer at Trumbull Savings and Loan in Girard, and retired in 1980. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Helen was a kind and gentle woman and enjoyed traveling,gardening and taking care of her animals. She leaves to cherish her memory, her children; Susan Blankenship of Asheville, North Carolina; Richard (Jenni) Frehs of Columbus, Ohio; and Karen (Michael) Kochy of Charlotte, North Carolina, her sister Joan Wellman of Lake Worth, Florida, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Adolf Frehs whom she married, September 18, 1948 and died April 19, 1990 and a brother Nathan Walker. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, October 12th,12:30 PM at Blackstone Funeral Home. The Family will receive relatives and friends from 11:30 AM until the time of service. Helen will be laid to rest at Girard City Cemetery next to her husband. The family would like to thank Harbor Light Hospice, and Brookdale Austintown for their kind and compassionate care that was given to Helen Jean.
