Helen Glass

Helen Glass, 91, a lifelong resident of Girard, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown. 

She was born on May 31, 1935, in Girard, Ohio, a daughter to the late Daniel and Anna Marie (Dickerhoff) Fizet.

Helen graduated from Girard High School as part of the class of 1953. She dedicated 38 years of her professional career to Packard Electric. 

Helen was passionate about quilting and cooking, activities through which she found joy and expression. Above all, she cherished caring for her family, a role she embraced wholeheartedly.

She is survived by her sons, Mark Glass and James (Kelly) Glass; her brother, Thomas Fizet; granddaughters Lindsay Glass (Cameron Collins) and Alyssa Glass (Alex Mergard); a great-grandchild expected in the near future; and a special niece, Lori Glass Bailey. 

Along with her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Glass, who she married on July 2, 1955 and passed away on December 16, 2018; sisters Clara and Janet; and brothers John, Nick, Steve, Eddie, Tom, Chuck, Carl, and George.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, June 15th from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 16th at 10:00 AM at St. Rose Church in Girard. 

Helen will be laid to rest at Churchill Cemetery next to her husband. 

In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions be made to the Hope Center: 700 Howland Wilson Rd., Warren, OH 44484, in Helen's memory.
