Herbert W. Seelbach Sr, 95, of Girard, passed away at the Hospice House on Wednesday August 17, 2011.  Herbert was born March 18, 1916 in Utica, Ohio, the son of the late Louis and Mary Chappell Seelbach.  Herbert was a Music Teacher for the Girard School System for 32 years retiring in 1977.  He earned his Bachelor's degree from Ohio State University and a Masters Degree in Music from Youngstown State University.  He was formerly the Director of Music for the Packard Music Band and had played first reed for the Kenley Players at the Packard Music Hall.  Herbert was a member of the Girard First United Methodist Church, The American Legion Post #235 and the William Farr Masonic Lodge #672.  He enjoyed his music, golf and bowling.  Herbert was a Navy veteran of WWII and inducted into the Ohio Veteran's Hall of Fame in 2009.  He is survived by his children, Herbert (Brenda) Seelbach Jr. of Findley, Ohio, Sharon K. Gilbert of Fountain Valley, Calf., Mark D. (Cheryl) Seelbach of Columbus, Ohio, Brad K. (Jennifer) Seelbach of Girard, and Scott E. (Debbie) Seelbach of Wellborn, Florida, nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.  Preceded in death was his wife, the former, Thora A. Carlisle, whom he married August 30, 1938 and died Dec. 27, 2007, sisters El Fleda Seelbach and Martha Buchart, brothers Charles and Donald Seelbach and a great-granddaughter.  Funeral services will be held on Monday August 22, 2011, 11:00 AM, at the Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard.  The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 2-4PM at the funeral home.  Internment will take place at Girard City Cemetery with Military Honors.  The family requests any material contributions be made to Hospice of the Valley in Herbert's memory.  Visit www.blackstonesfh.com to view this obituary and to send condolences to the Seelbach family.
