Homer F. “Ford” Gearhart, 77, of Warren, formerly of McDonald, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 4, 2026 at the residence of his niece.
Homer was born March 11, 1949 in Warren, Ohio, the son of Frank and Bessie (Irwin) Gearhart.
Homer had served his country faithfully in the U. S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. After the service, he worked as a mail carrier for the Girard Post Office, where he retired from.
Homer was an avid Cleveland sports fan, especially the Cleveland Indians. He always enjoyed special trips with family, and enjoyed playing Yahtzee every chance he could get. He loved his cats and all animals in general.
He is survived by his son, Wes (Sara) Gearhart; sisters, Marilyn Harris, Joan Peterson, Rhoda Aubel, and Karen Cook; brother, John Gearhart; 8 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and his niece, Sandy Wolcott, who cared for Homer and resided with her for the past six years.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Pamela J (Mohn) Gearhart, whom he married in 1975 and died September 25, 2018; brothers, Frank Gearhart, Merle Gearhart, James Gearhart, Jeff Gearhart and infant twins, Ronald and Donald Gearhart; and sisters, Mary Guis, and Patricia Gearhart.
Memorial services, with military honors, will be held at 5:00p.m.on Monday, October 12th, 2026 at Blackstone Funeral Home, where family and friends may gather one hour prior to the service.
Homer and Pam will be laid to rest together at Girard City Cemetery.
