Girard

With sadness in our hearts, we announce the passing of Joanne Martuccio Ferraro on June 13, 2024.

Joanne who was born on November 8, 1932 in Farrell, PA was a proud graduate of Girard High School and Penn-Ohio Junior College in Youngstown, Ohio. For over three decades, Joanne served as a court reporter for the Honorable Judge Reed Battin and the Honorable Judge Thomas Swift of Trumbull County Probate Court where her commitment to accuracy and professionalism left an indelible mark. Her meticulous work ethic and unwavering integrity earned her the respect and admiration of colleagues and peers.

Joanne’s journey was intertwined with the love of her life, Sam, who preceded her in death. Together, they shared over sixty-four years of marriage. A true homemaker at heart, Joanne found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Her green thumb flourished as she tended to her beloved garden of herbs and blooms. In the kitchen, she was a culinary maestro, delighting loved ones with her Italian cooking. Her cherry pies, crafted with love and skill, were a highlight at family gatherings, serving as a sweet reminder of her warmth and generosity. Joanne’s love for family and culture permeated every aspect of her life, leaving an enduring legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Antoinette Sherock Martuccio, husband Sam, brother-in-law Bill Patrick, and sister-in-law Louise Martuccio. She is survived by her sister, Genesta Martuccio Patrick, brother Dr. James Martuccio Sr., step brother Donald Reino, Esq., and brother-in law Michael Ferraro. Her nieces and nephews include Dr. and Mrs James V. Martuccio Jr., Dr’s Sheryl and Kevin Hallgarth, Dr. Michael Martuccio and Beth, Ann and Hung Ma, and David Patrick. Joanne will be forever grateful for the gift of friends, Gloria and Louis Gorsick. Gloria was Joanne’s best friend and their friendship began when they worked together at the courthouse.

Though she may no longer walk among us, Joanne’s spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten. Her legacy forever etched in the hearts of those who were touched by her grace, kindness, and love. May her memory be a source of comfort and solace during this difficult time. Per her final wishes, there are no services. A private service is planned where family will gather in her memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests any donations be made to the charity of your choice in her honor.
