Julia Cohol, 91, of Liberty Township, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2025, at the Elmwood Assisted Living in Hubbard.
Julia was born on April 29, 1934, in Girard, Ohio, a daughter to the late Stephen and Elizabeth (Makar) Petkovich.
Julia was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Girard and she and her late husband, Frank, were one of the first couples married in that church.
Julia absolutely loved her extended family, laughing and playing silly games, putting together jigsaw puzzles, celebrating the holidays and the first snowfall of the year, baking cookies, watching her hummingbirds, and traveling to visit her son and daughter wherever they lived - even though she hated flying.
Julia also enjoyed playing the piano, and had a beautiful voice. She was passionate for music by the Crooners from the 1940’s and 50’s, especially Johnny Mathis.
Professionally, Julia worked most of her career at the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services, helping people with their unemployment claims.
Julia is survived by her beloved son, Doug Cohol (Lynnae Lehfeldt), and her cherished granddaughter, Theresa Marie Cohol.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Cohol; her daughter, Paula Cohol; and her siblings, sisters Mary Loychik and Pauline Storc; brothers Paul Petkovich and Dan Petkovich.
There will be no services.
Julia will be laid to rest at Greenhaven Memorial Gardens next to her husband.
