June L. (Druschel) Peigowski

June 18, 1928 — March 7, 2018

June Lorraine Peigowski, 89, passed away March 7, 2018 at her daughter’s residence in Champion with her children by her side.

June was born in New Castle, Pennsylvania on June 18, 1928 to Wilbert P and Thelma Body Druschel.  She married Leo Peigowski on March 6, 1948.  They shared 49 years together until his death in 1997.

June was Salutatorian of her 1946 graduating class at Howland High School and for many years organized their class reunions. In 1977, she graduated second in her class at Choffin School of Practical Nursing.  She retired in 1993 from Hillside Hospital where she worked as an LPN for 17 years.

June had always been a hard working person.  She started taking care of her sisters at an early age. Her home was always open as many nieces, nephews and cousins came to stay. She took care of her sister-in-law, Anne, in her final year.

June volunteered as home room mother for her children and was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader.

She was a beautiful seamstress that made clothes for her family, canned vegetables and spaghetti sauce, and worked hard on the farm, gardening, helping hay, raising chickens and even delivering calves.  The first calf she ever delivered she named April, breaking a hard and fast rule that you don’t name animals who are meant for the dinner table!

June loved German Shepherd dogs, raising and breeding them for many years. She also loved cats. Having many in her life, she leaves behind her cat, Boots.

As well as being an awesome mother and grandmother, June had been an active member for many years at Bazetta Christian Church, serving as president of the CWF, being a deacon, and singing in the choir. She was always willing to help out, serving many bereavement dinners.

She will be greatly missed by her daughters, Sharon (Alan) Lininger of Middlefield, Carol (A.J.) Pennington of Champion, with whom she made her home, Lynnette Coley of Atlanta, GA, Joleen (Anthony) DeGaten of Vienna, her favorite son, Ted (Janna) Peigowski of Hubbard, 20 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, as well as her sisters, Helen Peffer, Lois  (Bill) Stavanna, and Beverly Haynie.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her parents, sister Doris Day and brothers, Wilbert Jr. and Dwight Druschel.

Services will be held at Bazetta Christian Church on March 15, 2018 at 6pm, where friends and family may call two hours prior to service.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ohio Living Home Healthcare and Hospice, 6715 Tippecanoe Rd, Building E, Suite 201, Canfield, Ohio 44406.
