Katherine "Smitty" Richards

Katherine Ann Richards, "Smitty," 66, of Girard, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 9, 2025 in the comfort of her home.

Katherine was born August 20, 1958 in Girard, Ohio, a daughter to Michael and Mary Ann (Stellato) Richards.

She was a 1977 graduate of Ursuline High School.

Katherine had worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital in the kitchen for over 30 years.

She was a member of St. Rose Church.

In her spare time Katherine enjoyed going to the casinos, traveling, especially to Florida to see her cousin Julie, and playing the lottery.

She was an avid fan of Notre Dame and the Steelers.

Katherine leaves to cherish her memory her companion of over 20 years, David Mascarella; Margaret Mascarella, who cared for her; her aunts, Marguerite Bluedorn and Clarian McCloud; her long time friend, Tracey; her cousin, Julie; and several other cousins.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Charles "CR" Richards

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 14th, 4:00 PM at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard where the family will receive relatives and friends from 2:00 PM until the time of service.

Katherine will be laid to rest at Girard City Cemetery.
