Lewis Sherman Lenkner (“Bud”), age 87, originally of Weirton, West Virginia, and a resident of Youngstown, Ohio for the past 26 years, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2026.
Bud proudly served his country in the United States Army while stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii. Following his military service, he dedicated many years of hard work as a railroad conductor, retiring in 2000. He was known by those who loved him as a man who could repair, build, or figure out nearly anything. Whether helping family, friends, or neighbors, Bud was always someone others could depend on.
Above all else, Bud was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and provider. His steady presence, quiet strength, and willingness to help without hesitation left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. The lessons he taught through hard work, kindness, and love will live on through his family.
Bud especially cherished time spent traveling and relaxing with his family. He enjoyed many happy years at his condo in Fort Myers, Florida, and loved vacationing in Captiva Island, Florida, and Maui, Hawaii—places that brought him great peace, joy, and lasting memories with those he loved most.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Carol; his daughter, Eve (Rick); his granddaughter, Gabi (Ben); and his grandson, Ricky, along with many other loved ones who will cherish his memory.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our angel, Dave Skowron, for his selfless acts of kindness, friendship, and unwavering love shown to Bud and his family throughout the years. His compassion and support will never be forgotten.
A private celebration of life will be held at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard, Ohio.
Bud will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
