Mary Nerone, 96, of Girard, passed away on Tuesday May 9, 2017 at her residence. Mary was born December 28, 1920 in Hillsville, Pennsylvania, the daughter of John and Anna (Nocera) Calabrese.

Mary was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Niles. A homemaker, Mary saw to the enjoyment and comfort of all her family. She was an adored mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She also did her part in the war effort by working as a "Rosie the Riveter" at General Fire Proofing. Her personal interests included, BINGO and trips to the casino, as well as, cooking, and baking for her family and friends, and watching with great delight as her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren grew and prospered.

Mary was predeceased by her husband, Tony Nerone, whom she married February 1945 and died March 1991, her beloved daughter Rosann Elkhouri, her grandson Tony Elkhouri, three sisters Margaret Ricuitii, Jeannette Pacillo and Jospehine Notareschi, and three brothers Charles Calabrese, Tony Calabrese, and Vincent Calabrese.

She is survived by her sons Bill (Sharon) Nerone of Beaver Falls, PA and John L. Nerone of Ravenna, her sisters Jenny Gadzia of New Castle, PA and Dorothy (Dale) Baker of Bessemer, PA, her grandchildren Ayyoub Elkhouri, Dia (Joe) Alessi, Renee (Robbie) Cherry, William (Laurie) Nerone, and Jeffery (Yvonne) Nerone, and her great-grandchildren Alexis Elkhouri, Taylor, Halle, Jacob, and Addison Nerone, Joseph, Nathan, and Joshua Alessi, and Hemingway and Madigan Cherry.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 12th, 10:00AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 4-7 PM at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard.  Mary will be laid to rest at Belmont Park Cemetery.  Visit www.blackstonefuneralhome.com to view this obituary and to send any condolences to the family.
