Mary "Margie" (Draghita) Sproviero

February 7, 1932 — July 29, 2019

Mary "Margie" Sproviero,of Girard, passed away peacefully Monday July 29th, 2019, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, in Youngstown.
Margie was born on February 7, 1932, in Campbell, Ohio, the daughter of Ana and Zafiu Draghita.
A 1950 graduate of East High School, she worked several jobs before landing at the W.T. Grant Co. There she met her future husband, Joseph, whom she married on June 11, 1955. Both she and her husband were members of St. Rose Parish.
Margie had many pleasures throughout her life. She was a voracious reader, often absorbing 2 to 3 books daily. She also loved to hike, often with her sister, in Mill Creek Park, but especially in Estes Park, Colorado, where she and Joe took many vacations to accommodate her love of the Rocky Mountains. Margie was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and Ted Williams, with the 2004 World Series giving her great enjoyment. She enjoyed trips to various casinos and her daily caramel frappes. She had a deep love of all animals and was a frequent donor to several animal charities.
Margie's greatest joy, however, was for her family, whom she was vastly proud of. She relished her role as a grandmother; birthdays and other family gatherings were very special to her. Besides her husband, she leaves behind to cherish her memory, three sons, Joseph (Diane), of Cortland, John, of Westlake and Ed, of Girard. She is also survived by her granddaughter Angela, and many cherished nieces and nephews. Among others, Kolbie and Emma Foust and Annette Lastoria were also special to her.
In addition to her parents, Margie was preceded in death by her sister and brother in law, Annie and Albert Edmonds, sister and brother in law, Eleanor and Louis Rivello, sister in law, Angela Sproviero and niece, Melody Gay Edmonds.
At Margie's request there will be no visitation. Private services were held at Blackstone Funeral Home, with the Reverend Monsignor Zuraw officiating. The family suggests any memorial contributions be made to St. Rose School or Church, 48 W. Main St., Girard, Ohio, 44420 or to One of A Kind Animal Shelter, 1929 W. Market St., Akron, Ohio 44313.
