Patricia L. Simon, 82, of McDonald, Ohio, passed away peacefully at Hospice House surrounded by her loving family in Poland, Ohio.
Pat was born December 28, 1943 in Youngstown, Ohio, the daughter of Frank B. and Eva (Doumont) Martin.
Pat retired in 2007 as a Registered Nurse, after working at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown. She was a member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in McDonald and had done volunteer work for Hospice. Pat enjoyed sewing, camping and crafts, but her greatest joy was time spent with her grandchildren.
Pat also spent several years as the co-leader of Girl Scout troop #223 in McDonald, alongside Charlene McCracken, where they had successfully helped fundraise for over 2 years in order to take the girls on a 3-week tour of Europe.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Lisa (Ron) Pratt of McDonald, Linda Hunt of Liberty Twp., and James M. Simon of McDonald; her sister Wanda (Joe) Simon of McDonald; her grandchildren, Cody (Kassie) Hunt, Dylan Hunt, Abby (Luke) Swauger and Emily (Fiancee Josh Vincent) Pratt; along with brother-in-law, Mike (Rita) Simon.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband James E. Simon, whom she married October 21, 1967 and died March 25, 2020.
Friends and family will gather on Sunday, June 7th at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard for visitation from 3pm - 5pm. Additional visitation will be held on Monday, June 8th, from 9-10am at Blackstone Funeral Home, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30am at Queen of Heaven Catholic Parish in McDonald.
The family is hosting a luncheon which will take place in the Queen of Heaven Parish hall after services on Monday, and all are welcome to attend.
She will be laid to rest at Resurrection cemetery, next to her husband. As per Pat's wishes, any memorial contributions in her memory can be made to: The Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Rd. Youngstown, Ohio 44514
