Patrick A. Tondo

Patrick A. Tondo, 87, of Girard, passed away on Friday, July 6, 2018, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, in Youngstown. Pat was born March 17, 1931, in Youngstown, the son of Nicholas and Helen (Lambert) Tondo. Pat served his country, during the Korean Conflict, in the U.S. Army. After his service time, he worked for Erie Lackawanna Railway for twelve years as a ticket clerk. In 1968, Pat started his own business, Tondo Carpets, which has continued on as a family business to this day. He was a member of St. Rose Church and the American Legion. Pat had coached the Girard Baseball Colt League, for several years, and was an avid Cleveland Indian fan. He also enjoyed gardening, fishing  and going to the casino's, but his most enjoyable times was with his family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of sixty four years, Elizabeth "Tweety" (Nigut) , whom he married April 24, 1954, his children; Joyce (Jim Kramer), Jeanne (Ron Lessick), Janet (Bob Steele), Patrick (Carla), and Paul, his grandchildren; Patrick, Kyle, Morgan, Kelsea, Geralyn, Katelyn, Alexandra, Karisa, Annaleise, Jacquelyn and Kari, great-grandchildren; Crew, Arlo, Lola, Michael and Jade, his sister, Betty June Lee, sister-in-law Beverly Tondo, and many nieces and nephews.  Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Nicholas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 9th, 12:00 PM at St. Rose Church. Interment will immediately follow at Girard City Cemetery with military honors.
