Paul E. Gerke Sr.

Paul E. Gerke Sr., 74, of Girard, passed away on Friday, June 23, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.  Paul was born November 10, 1942 in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of Charles E. and Mildred L.( Harkleroad) Gerke. Paul retired in 1999 from General Motors after 33 years working as an outside driver.  Paul loved his "57" Chrysler and was a classic car enthusiast. Paul and his late wife Lana, enjoyed going to the casino's together and camping in their younger years and fishing. All animals seemed to love Paul and he leaves his pet cockatil "Spike" that he has had for many years and enjoyed! He also loved music and his records he would play,but his greatest love was just spending time with his children and grandchildren. He leaves to cherish his memory, his children; Paul E. (Valarie) Gerke Jr. of Niles, Bettie (Tom) Humphreys of McDonald, Catherine (Mitch) Shank of Warren and David (Petey) Gerke of Columbus, a brother Charles Gerke of Cortland, grandchildren; Daniel (Tiffany) Gerke, Dustin Gerke, Raegan (Chris) Gerke, Megan (Darrick) Lenihan, Joey (Nikki) Nolker, Chris (Stephanie) Humphreys and Tommy (Kerri) Humphreys, and ten great-grandchildren. Paul is preceded in death by his wife, Lana Rae (Worley) Gerke, whom he married Sept. 28, 1962 and died March 5, 2014, and his sister, Marsha Marie Gerke. A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 26th, 6:00 PM at Blackstone Funeral Home, where the family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 5:00 PM until the time of service.
