Philip M. Cortell Sr.

Philp M. Cortell Sr., 88, of Girard, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2017.
Philip was born in Niles, Ohio, the son of the late Nicholas and Mamie Cortell.
Philip served in the U.S. Army Military Police Corps. Philip was a mechanical design draftsman. He worked at RMI Steel in his earlier years and retired from Syro Steel after 17 years.
Philip was a member of St. Rose Church in Girard. He was also a member of the Girard Knights of Columbus, IFH, Sons of Italy, St. Rose Senior Citizens, and Girard Senior Citizens.
Philip’s hobbies included golf, bowling, bocce, fishing and playing cards. He also enjoyed backyard gardening and trips to the casino.
Philip leaves his wife, Theresa (Diana) Cortell, daughter, Diana (Joe) Moran, son, Philip Cortell, two grandsons, Joseph Moran and Michael Moran, sister, Angela Cortell, two brothers, Dominick Cortell and Nick (Radon) Cortell, brother-in law, Patsy Diana, sister-in-law, Toni Diana and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in law, Angelo Diana and sisters-in-law, Sandra Cortell and Josephine Diana.
