Ray B. Nevel

Ray B. Nevel, 82, of Girard, passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2018, at Liberty Health Care Center in Liberty Twp., Ray was born May 30, 1936, in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of Llewellyn D. and Fanny R. (Wright) Nevel. Ray retired in 2005, after 34 years in the insurance business. Ray had participated in multiple golf leagues and enjoyed his summers at their cottage on Lake Erie in Madison, Ohio. He was an active member of the Girard First United Methodist Church, where he was a trustee and a member of the choir, Wick Lodge #481 F & AM, St. John Commandery #20, Scottish Rite, Valley of Youngstown, Al Koran Shrine in Cleveland, Youngstown Shrine Club, Aut Mori Grotto, Kiwanis Club of Youngstown, and Kiwanis George F. Hixson Fellow. Ray served as past-president of; Big Brothers of Mahoning County, Youngstown Association of Claims Adjusters, Youngstown Association of Life Underwriters, Independent Insurance Agents of Mahoning County, Kiwanis Club of Youngstown and Past Lt. Governor of 21st Division of Kiwanis. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Linda J. (Warner) Nevel, whom he married April 3, 1976, his sons; Bruce H. Nevel, of North Jackson, Scott A. (Kim) Nevel, of Youngstown,and Keith E. Nevel, of Jupiter, Florida, and daughter; Jeanne B. (Bruce) Cofman of Charlotte, NC; daughter in law, Carina Nevel, of Charlotte, NC, step son, Dr. Ronald A. (Lynn) Rhodes, of Girard, brother, Robert G. (Jeanne) Nevel, of Columbus, Ohio, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He participated in multiple golf leagues and enjoyed summers at their cottage on Lake Erie in Madison, OH. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Richard L. (Marveen) Nevel. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at 3:00 PM, at the Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 1:00 PM until 2:45 PM. The Wick Lodge #481 will conduct a Masonic Service at 2:45 PM.
