Richard L. Glunt, 86, of Girard, passed away peacefully at Shepherd of the Valley, surrounded by his family, on Friday, January 19, 2024. Richard was born May 20, 1937 in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of Leroy and Grace (Mattson) Glunt. Richard served his country honorably in the US Army and the Ohio National Guard, afterwards. He was a graduate of Youngstown State University. He then worked for Youngstown State University as an Executive Director of Budget and Finance for 34 years. Richard was a member of the Knights of Columbus, serving as past treasurer for many years. He enjoyed his Silver Sneakers membership, working out at St Joseph's in the Eastwood Mall. Richard's greatest times were spent with his daughters and their significant others and grandchildren. Many will miss his kind and gentle nature, always taking time for family and others. He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughters, Shari Stellmar, husband Jim of McDonald, Kimberlee Skiba, Fiancee Dave Rose, of Niles and Vicki Romesberg, Fiancee John Powers, of Girard; grandchildren, Courtney, Jason, Kyle, Katie, Daniel, Jamie, Jaydin, Ticen, Karli and Alec; great-grandchildren, Bryce, Blake, Oliver and Kennedy; and his loving and devoted caregiver, Cindy Odom. Besides his parents, Richard is preceded in death by his wife, Marianne (DeFalco) Glunt, whom he married June 6, 1964 and died April 5, 2012, sister, Loretta Perkins and brother, Larry Glunt. Private funeral services were held on Monday, January 22nd, at Blackstone Funeral Home. Richard will be laid to rest at St. Stephen's Cemetery in Niles.
