Robert K. Powell

February 14, 1962 — December 17, 2021

This world lost Robert “Bob” Kevin Powell, 59, on Friday, December 17, 2021 in his home where he raised his family in Tallmadge, Ohio. Bob was born on February 14, 1962 to the late Lona Loretta and Robert Eugene Powell and was raised by his mother and her late husband Adam Kenneth Bequeath, due to the early loss of Robert Eugene. Bob often recalled his childhood on the farm so fondly, remembering the farm life and playing basketball and pool with his friends and family. He is survived by his superhero of a wife, Connie Powell and his awesome children, Stephanie Powell and Bobby (Olivia) Powell and adorable grandchildren Evelyn and Adler Powell. Bob will also be remembered by his sisters Cindy (the late Gary) Seifert and Sheri Powell, as well as his brother Richard (Lois Gardner) Powell. He will also be missed by his nephew Jason Seifert and his children Grace, Cameron, Lily and Lona Seifert as well as his niece Kristin (Robb) Watson and their children Valerie and Adam Watson as well as his many cousins including Charles Daniels.

Bob impacted the life of each person he came into contact with. Whether it be the neighbor walking down the road, the students engaged in his interactive lessons or his family, which he poured countless hours and endless efforts to build strong and vibrant. He lit up a room, he was the life of the party, always cracking jokes, always making people smile and laugh… or shake their head. His favorite movie was, "What About Bob?" and he loved watching western T.V. shows such as Bonanza. He enjoyed humor, the idea of the wild west and watching "the good guys win." He was an incredible educator who truly cared about his students. He balanced a level of respect and fun in his classroom. He was a strong, compassionate, empathetic lover of life and fought the bravest fight for it to the very end. He loved enjoying vacation with his family, whether it was camping and watching the sunset on Silver Lake, Michigan or eating La Rosa’s pizza on the water at the amusement park Kings Island or enjoying the paradise of Hawaii with his wife and kids (who brings their kids on their anniversary trip to Hawaii?!). He said that, “Even paradise isn’t much of a paradise without sharing it with the people you love.” He enjoyed his own personal slice of paradise in his woodshop at home where building beautiful furniture and projects brought him joy. One of his final projects was a large coop for his chickens, which he enjoyed caring for and he believed in treating animals well. And finally, and he would say most importantly, he loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Bob was so passionate about his love for God and many who knew him, or even witnessed him from afar, said his actions and life reflected his love for Jesus.

Bob did not like wasting money, as he would tell anyone who would listen, and therefore did not want a funeral, so we will respect and honor his view and his wishes. We will celebrate his life in early June of 2022. Details for the celebration of his life will be determined and communicated by the family at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made out to Camp Carl with The Chapel in Akron. Bob was a wonderful husband, father, opa, teacher and friend and affected the lives of so many who will miss him beyond what words could ever express. Rest easy Bob and until we meet again.
