Ronald G. Wilson, 89, of McDonald, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at his residence. Ronald was born May 22, 1935 in Girard, Ohio, the son of Charles Wilson and Virginia (Davis) Giffus. He later moved to McDonald where he graduated from
McDonald High School.
Ron was a retired salesman, having worked for various companies throughout his life. He was a member of Woodland Park United Methodist Church in McDonald. He had served in the Marine Corp. Reserves for 10 years. Ron enjoyed playing golf, fishing at Chautaqua Lake (where he spent many summers) and playing cards. He spent his leisure time at the McDonald Senior Community Center. He also enjoyed his weekly lunches with his cousin Ray and his wife Barb, their daughter Jill, Denny and many other friends that joined them.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his daughters, Cindy O'Dea of McDonald and Karen (John) Chase of Girard, his beloved grandchildren, Jake, Samantha and Zane. He also
leaves his sister in law Marilyn Slater and her spouse Tom, nephew Tommy(Stacy), niece Shari(Alex), one great niece and three great nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his wife Sally, who passed away November 2018. Ron and Sal were inseparable throughout their 61 years of marriage. Ron was very fortunate to be surrounded by wonderful friends, family and neighbors who were just a phone call away to assist him when needed. A special thank you to his neighbor Joann who helped care for him as his illness progressed. She was not only a comfort to him, but to his
daughters as well.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, June 17th, 12:00 PM at Blackstone Funeral Home, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Ron will be laid to rest next to his wife at Niles Union Cemetery.
