Scott Reed Sampson, 45, of Girard, passed away on August 15, 2024, at Cleveland Clinic, surrounded by his loving family.
Scott was born November 26, 1978 in Youngstown, Ohio, a son to William and Charlene (Dawson) Sampson.
Scott attended TCTC and graduated from Girard High School in 1997. His most recent endeavors included serving as a kitchen helper at Old Country Buffet and Park Vista, where honed his culinary skills.
Scott was a remarkable individual, recognized for his great sense of humor, which endeared him to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. He loved going for long walks, immersing himself in the rhythms of music, and indulging in the world of video games. A passionate fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, Scott found camaraderie and excitement in following his favorite team, a testament to his spirited nature. He was also an avid participant in fantasy football, showcasing his competitive edge and love for the game. Scott also had a love for nostalgia movies including; Dragnet, I Love Lucy, and The Golden Girls.
Scott leaves to cherish his memory his parents, William and Charlene Sampson of Girard; sister, Jessica (Brian) Gardner of Niles; niece, Savannah Gardner who he treated like his own and was affectionately known as “Uncle Scoggy”; aunts, Bonny Lewis of Las Vegas, Trina Stonebraker of Girard, and Sondra (Roy) Wilson of Poland; uncles, Richard Stonebraker of MO, and David (Victoria) Hill of NM; cousins, Christine (Fiance Marc) Stonebraker-Martinez of Cleveland, David (Keely) Stonebraker-Martinez of Columbus, Ashley Stonebraker of MO and Megan Stonebraker-Bacon of MO; Dawn Corley of Vienna, who was like a sister to him; along with many friends who referred to him as “Sid” and “Scooter”.
Scott is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Richard and Amanda Stonebraker; his maternal grandparents Wilbur "Lucky" Dawson, Joan Dawson, and Judy Dawson; and uncles, Tim and Edward Stonebraker as well as his aunt, Sondra Wilson.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 20th, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, followed by a funeral service starting at 5:00 PM at the First Christian Church, located at 33 N Arlington Ave, Niles, OH, 44446. The family is asking that all who attend wear their favorite football team attire.
The family would like to thank Cleveland Clinic and their whole staff of Cardiac ICU J-31 for their compassionate care that was given to them and Scott.
Scott’s life, though too brief, was vibrant, filled with moments of laughter, friendly competition, and cherished memories shared with family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
