Shirley A. Hunter, 90, of Niles, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 15th, 2025 at Hospice House in Poland.
Shirley was born March 5, 1935 in Youngstown, Ohio, the daughter of Paul and Dorothy (Knight) Patterson.
She had worked for a travel agency and Dr. Richard Ragozzine for many years.
Shirley was a member of First United Methodist Church in Niles, the Girard Historical Society, the Herb Society, and her neighborhood club, Happy Chatter.
In her younger years, Shirley enjoyed horseback riding, and she and her husband always enjoyed traveling and camping with the family. She also recently loved making rugs.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Cynde Hall of Niles; sister, Nancy Faiver of Girard; brothers, David Patterson and Paul Richard Patterson, both of Girard; grandchildren, Jessica Hall, John Hall and Joe Merwin; and great-grandchildren, Giannelli, Leovanni and Kirsten.
Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Hunter, whom she married April 30, 1955 and died December 13, 2020; her sons, John D. Hunter and John W. Hunter, and her brother William Patterson.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 21st, 1:00 PM at Blackstone Funeral Home, where family and friends may call from noon until the time of service.
Shirley will be laid to rest with her husband at Girard City Cemetery.
The family suggests any memorial contributions be made to the Girard Historical Society in Shirley's memory.
