Suzanne McMaster, 80, devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and a woman of
great faith, passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at St. Elizabeth Hospital,
Youngstown, surrounded by her loving children.
Suzanne was born November 18, 1939 in Youngstown, the daughter of Edward
and Dorothy McKenna McGowan. She was a graduate of Girard High School, and
spent much of her adult life in Girard, a steady housewife to her husband Tom, and her
beloved children. The McMaster household was always a beehive of activity, and could
include stern admonitions, not always heeded, but tempered by Suzanne's love of God,
her gracious and forgiving nature, and most of all her distinctive and infectious laugh.
Most recently, Suzanne and her husband were residents at the Antonine Village Assisted Living facility.
Suzanne always led a spiritual life, her journeys and challenges leading her to
different churches over the years, where she always made friends and was always
willing to volunteer and help when needed. She currently had been a member at the
Victory Christian Center Warren Campus. 1 Corinthians 2:9 “No eye has seen, no ear
has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those that Love Him.”
Suzanne experienced tremendous joy during the holidays and birthday
celebrations, where she always cooked and baked. She also cherished times on planned family vacations, and even the unplanned “just because” gatherings, sharing food, drink, and laughter, always enjoying and embracing the moment and being in the presence of family and friends, which made her heart glad.
Suzanne leaves to cherish her memory, her husband Thomas, whom she married
on September 23, 1961, and her children Thomas II (Barbara) of Chagrin Falls, Holly
Rees of Niles, Heather (Kevin) Gump of Girard, and Beth (Bob) Kolat of Farmdale; and
grandchildren Katie, Shane, Alexis, James, Gillian, Trevor, McKenna, Haeden, and
Delaney.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and by her brother Edward McGowan.
Due to current health conditions, a memorial service will be held at a later date to
honor Suzanne. Donations in her memory can be made to either the Warren or
Youngstown Rescue Missions, or Antonine Village.
