Thelma L. Woodford, 87, of Niles, passed away on Tuesday August 2, 2011 at Northside Hospital.  Thelma was born on Sept. 19, 1923 in Ellwood City, Pa., the daughter of the late Harold J. and Helen Smith McCoy.  She retired in 1994 from Northside Hospital as a coronary care secretary after 12 years and had also worked for Carlisle's in Niles for 12 years.  Thelma was a 1941 graduate of Girard High School and a Navy Veteran of WWII .She was a member of the Girard First United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the choir for over forty years, and also a former volunteer at Hillside Hospital  for fourteen years.  Thelma's greatest joy in life was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She is survived by her children Judith (Donald) Ruggiero of Put-N-Bay-, Ohio, Linda (Bill) McKernan of McDonald, Ohio, Deborah (Dennis) Radek of Burr Ridge, Illinois and Lori (Jeff) Cramer of Girard, Ohio, grandchildren Christian (Jen) McKernan, Jeff (Roni) McKernan, Joshua and Jonathan Zeitler and Jared and Emily Cramer, great-grandchildren Maggie, Regan, Liam and Caitlyn and a brother Glenn McCoy of North Carolina.  Preceded her in death were her sisters Margaret Sedgwick, Lois Ellis and Rozzella Pritchard and a brother Harold McCoy.  Memorial services will be held at a later date at the First United Methodist Church.  The family requests any material contributions be made to the Church Choir Music Fund or the American Cancer Society..
