Theresa L. Sherock

Theresa Sherock, 86, of Austintown formerly of Girard, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2026 at Brookdale Austintown.

She was born on February 2, 1940, in Girard, a daughter to the late Joseph and Catherine (Acerra) Sherock.

A graduate of Ursuline High School, Theresa built a life rooted in faith, work, family, and service to others. She worked for Sears until it closed and also worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was a lifelong member of St. Rose Church, where she remained very active through the years, and she also served as a past president of Mt. Carmel Society. Theresa was known for always helping others and for being the one who stayed behind to clean up at gatherings and parties, quietly caring for those around her in ways both practical and generous.

She also found joy in the kitchen and was especially loved for her baking and cooking. Her Bavarian cream pie and wedding soup were among the dishes most fondly remembered by those who knew her, and they reflected the warmth and hospitality she shared so naturally.

Theresa is survived by her nieces and nephews: Cathy and Paul Nuzzi, Lisa and Paul Wolfe, Sherri Sherock, Susan Sherock, Joanne Sherock, Tony and Sherri Sherock, Mark Sherock and Diane Kirk, Debbie Guthrie, Julie Stanec, Nick and Jennifer Sherock, and Chris and Tyke Racketa. She will be remembered with love by her family and by all who were touched by her kindness, devotion, and steady presence.

Along with her parents, Theresa was preceded in death by her brothers and sister in laws, John and Lucy Sherock, Nick and Betty Sherock, Frank and Marie Sherock, and Joe and Eleanor Sherock; and by her nephews, Rick Sherock and baby David Sherock.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 29th at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church in Girard.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer’s Association: 408 9th St SW Ste 3400, Canton, OH 44707, Akeso Hospice: 6600 Summit Dr, Canfield, OH 44406, or St. Rose Church: 48 Main Street, Girard, Ohio 44420, in Theresa's name.

Theresa will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the incredible staff at Brookdale Austintown for their excellent care and love over the last year and the staff at Akeso Hospice for their wonderful care and support over the last two months.
