Charles Werblan

Charles Werblan, 70, of Girard, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at Heritage Manor. Charles was born September 17, 1950 in Youngstown, a son of Walter and Kathryn (Yourstowsky) Werblan. Charles was an Electrical Engineering graduate of Youngstown State University and worked for Wean United, Target Stamped Products and Sawhill Tubular of Sharon Pa where he was an Electrical R&D Engineer for 20 years. He enjoyed many hobbies such as Astronomy, Amateur Radio, Shortwave and DX Radio Listening. He could build his own antennas and amplifiers. He loved motorcycles and he owned vintage motorcycles including one he restored and had on display at the Packard Museum.  His biggest love was travel, visiting Moscow, Sydney, Paris, Istanbul, Scandinavia, Europe, South America and Canada from one coast to the other. He enjoyed standing amongst the Penguins in the Falkland Islands. Charles also enjoyed cooking, taking several courses and practicing for a lifetime. He and his brother Michael were YSU Football fans traveling to 4 of the National Championship Games as well as most all home games. Charles' greatest joy in life was spending time with his wife and 3 grandchildren. Charles is survived by his adoring wife of 46 years, Mary (Stafford) of Youngstown, Ohio; daughters, Colleen (Kevin) Callinan of Worthington, Ohio, and Karen (Josh) Hartman of Canfield, Ohio; sisters, Patricia (Don)Tompkins of Virginia Beach, and Donna (James) Vogler of Oneonta, NY ; brother, Michael  (Cheryl) Werblan of Warren, Ohio; proud grandfather to Bronson (5), Kaelyn (3) and Adelyn (1); along with many nieces and nephews. A private service was held for the family. Charles will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery in New Castle.
