James "Jungle" Quinn Jr.

James Quinn Jr., 86 of Girard, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at St. Elizabeth Hospital.  James, who was affectionately known as "Jungle", was born December 16, 1936 in New Castle, PA, a son to the late James and Irene (Joseph) Quinn Sr. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in July 1963.

Jungle had worked for Youngstown Sheet and Tube,  General Electric in Warren, and later worked as a custodian for the Girard Free Library.

He was a member of St. Rose Church in Girard.

Jungle enjoyed golfing and was in various golfing leagues throughout his life. He was an avid Cleveland sports fan.

He leaves to cherish his memory his children, James (Yvonne) Quinn III of Austintown, and Marlene (Brian) Putnam of Bellevue, OH; brother, Tom Quinn of New Castle; grandchildren, Kyle, Samuel, Aaron and Philip; and great grandchildren, Kaden, Corrine, and Kinley; along with many nieces and nephews.

Jungle is preceded in death by his wife, Philomena Quinn, who he married May 2, 1964 and lived happily until her passing on September 14, 2021; sisters, Mary Ann Mangino and Janet Biddle; and brother, Fred Quinn.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 28th, 11:00 AM at St. Rose Church in Girard. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 9:30-10:30 AM at Blackstone Funeral Home in Girard.

The family would like to thank  the doctors and staff at Select Speciality Hospital for their kind and compassionate care that was given to Jungle.
