Mary Lou Acerra, 95, of Brandon, FL, formerly of Girard, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2022 at Aldea Green Assisted Living in Brandon, FL. Mary Lou was born September 15, 1926 in Phoenix, AZ, a daughter to Stanley and Mary (Kritz) Parker. In earlier years Mary Lou had worked for Lordstown Armory and then went on to open The Royal Gardens with her husband Joe, and was the bookkeeper there.  Mary Lou was a member of St. Rose Church in Girard and the Catholic Women’s Club. She enjoyed playing golf and was on many golf leagues during her lifetime.  Mary Lou was known for always working in her yard and had the most beautiful flower gardens. She was also an avid Indians fan and loved to read.
Mary Lou leaves to cherish her memory her children, Joseph (Sandra) Acerra of Girard, Mark (Marian) Acerra of Girard, and Denise (Sandy) Trotto of Brandon, FL, seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Along with her parents Mary Lou is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Acerra, who passed away February 16, 1993, and a brother, Robert Parker.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 14th at 11:00 AM at St. Rose Church. The family will receive relatives and friends at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Mary Lou will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery next to her husband. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital: st.jude.org/donate, in Mary Lou’s memory.
