Stephen W. Genetta, 95, of Girard passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at his residence. Steve was born January 19, 1926 in Masury, Ohio, the son of Andrew and Rose (Mate) Genetta. Steve had worked many jobs throughout his lifetime including US Steel McDonald Works, Prudential Insurance Co., as an insurance agent, Wagner Realty, as a real estate agent, the Charles Shop in Girard, a volunteer firefighter for the Girard Fire Department, Blackstone Funeral Home, and most recently Hidden Oaks Golf Course as a greens maintenance man. He served his country in the US Army during WW II and was a member of the American Legion, the V.F.W., Cortland Moose Lodge, and the First United Methodist Church in Girard. He enjoyed bowling, painting and had traveled to all 50 states during his lifetime. He leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Karen E. ( Joe Dalessandro) Kowal of Liberty, Edythe R. Mills of Girard, and Gary S. ( Angie) Genetta, of Girard; his sister Rose Marie Dailey, of Girard; his dear friends John Tester and John Kowal; eight grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Steve is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou (Bloom) Genetta, whom he married February 8, 1947 and died January 1, 1987; sister Margaret Elliott; brother, Andrew Genetta, granddaughter Nicole; and his companion for many years, Elsie Enyeart.  Due to the current health conditions, private services will be held and a Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. Steve will be laid to rest at Girard City Cemetery with military honors. The family suggests any memorial contributions be made to: First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 22 N. Market St. Girard, Ohio or the Youngstown VA Clinic, 1815 Belmont Ave. Youngstown, Ohio  44504.
